Starting with Powerpoint

  1. Place image in power point slide as Enhanced meta file or Windows meta file (.emf/.wmf)
  2. In Powerpoint use page setup to resize the slide so that the whole slide composes the desired image (i.e. reshape the slide to match the shape of the image and resize the image to match the size of the slide)
  3. Save the slide as a Postscript (.pdf), Adobe Professional
  4. In Adobe Professional, us Save As->.eps to generate Encapsulated Postscript (.eps)
  • The advantage of .wmf over .emf seems to be that the text is treated as truetype, where in .emf the text is treated as an image. Doing this with .emf files resulted in bad looking text for this particular image. I read that .emf is perferable, still don't know.
